How to Use & Care for Woodworking Tools

From Library Journal

The Bridgewaters, a husband-and-wife team, are known for creating excellent, easily understood woodworking books directed mainly towards beginners and hobbyists (e.g., Beautiful Wooden Gifts You Can Make in a Weekend, LJ 3/1/98). This title is no exception?it provides a pragmatic introduction to woodworking tools of all types. Although they lean toward hand tools, the Bridgewaters show how to use power tools when they feel there is no substitute (the lathe) or that the power tool will work better (the drill press). The text and illustrations are excellent, providing instructions for using and caring for chisels, planes, drawknives, saws, and carving tools with an unusual degree of depth. Instructions for selecting and tuning used tools are included?great for those on a budget and sometimes the only way to acquire certain tools. This excellent title is appropriate for all public libraries.?Jonathan N. Hershey, Akron-Summit Cty. P.L., Akron, OHCopyrig (more…)
