For over 100 years the Barrister’s bookcase has been one of the finest ways to display a fine collectiion of books or treasured art objects. This bookcase can be built out of any hardwood. Rather than use modern hinges and slides, this bookcase was created using the traditional two pin wooden sliding mechanism. Our instructions and woodworking plan insure a perfect bookcase!! The wood and material must be purchased at your local lumber supply company; we only supply the woodworking plan and instruction booklet to build the project.

This early example of modular office furniture still makes it case. You may stack the modular bookshelf units up to five high. With only two units your barrister’s bookcase does double duty as a sideboard or hall table. Each unit measures approximately 15″ high, 36-1/4″ wide and 13-1/2″ deep. Three units shown. About WOOD Magazine downloadable plans For error-free construction, each downloadable plan includes a bill of materials, a cutting diagram, a detailed supplies listing, and, when necessary, a mail-order buying guide for hard-to-find hardware. For a clear idea of how our projects go together, each downloadable plan includes an exploded-view drawing with helpful details. All drawings are done professionally by the WOOD Magazine staff of woodworkers and illustrators.
